Updates regarding covid-19
Bandit Theater will keep this page updated with the latest news regarding our response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We at Bandit Theater strive to create joyful community spaces that are safe and fun for everyone through the COVID-19 pandemic. The health of our audiences, performers, and collaborators is top priority to us.
Shows and Jams
Bandit Theater’s mainstage shows are currently operating in a hybrid format. Some teams are pursuing socially distanced, in-person programming and others are remaining online, streamed through Facebook Live or in an asynchronous podcast format. We will keep our show calendar up-to-date with all online and in-person events. Please note that our in-person shows require proof of vaccination against COVID-19 for attendance.
Classes and Workshops
Bandit Theater’s classes and workshops are following a hybrid format. Some are in-person, such as Bandit’s core Improv Training Program, whereas others are remaining online, such as Bandit’s core Sketch Writing Program and the Improv For Healing workshop.
All in-person classes require that students provide proof of vaccination in order to participate. Mask requirements for in-person classes are set on a teacher-by-teacher basis. Some classes will require masks, others will not. Each class’ registration page will clearly state up front whether the class requires mask wearing. The rule your teacher selects will not change over the course of the quarter—if you are enrolled in a masked class, you can be sure it will remain a masked class for the duration of the quarter.
Please watch our Classes page or sign up for our mailing list to stay informed of new offerings as they are announced.
If you are a student that registered for our postponed Spring 2020 quarter—your registration has been converted to a credit for a future quarter. If you would like to apply your credit to any Bandit class, please email our Education Lead, Kevin McVey (kevin@bandittheater.org), and we will send you a registration code that allows you to register for free.
Audiences
For the safety of our staff, players, collaborators, and audiences, Bandit Theater requests that you please wear a mask if you are in the audience at our shows. Our partner venues may follow an optional masking policy and we hope you will make the decision to opt-in. Masking is a simple measure to help ensure our events are safe and accessible to all.
Bandit Theater expects to continue producing online programming into the future. We will indicate on our Show Calendar which events are in-person and which are virtual.
Donations
Like many arts organizations of our size, COVID-19 has made a significant impact on our organization’s finances. If you are in a position to donate to our registered nonprofit, any amount would be greatly appreciated. Your gifts directly make our free online programming possible and help ensure the longevity of the arts in Seattle. You can donate through our ActBlue at any time.
The power of improv is to take what we are afraid of, and to find humor in the face of uncertainty. We encourage you to reach out to Artistic Director and Founder Annie Barry (Annie@bandittheater.org) if you have any worries, concerns, or if you just need someone to talk to at this time.
